

Outside of the races, you’ll mostly be busy with maintenance, R&D and customization of your character. Lastly you also have Task Events, where ou have to complete a list of three tasks while you’re racing. These events include academy events, designed to easy you into the game, sponsored races which allow you to unlock new parts for your bike, championship races, manufacturer competition races and face-off events, which are short 1vs1 races. This career mode consists of 70 events over a season. Hard Fought VictoriesĪll this maintenance is of course done in the Career mode, which is the heart of the game. Considering this feature is present for Pit Stops, which features a simiral QTE style mini-game, by turning on Fast Pit-Stop in the settings, this feels like a missed opportunity. After a while this mini-game becomes a bit boring though, and I really wished the game had an auto mount/unmount feature. On top of that, changing certain parts will unmount other parts, meaning you have to mount these also.

The only downside, is that everytime you want to mount or unmount a piece, you have to follow a set of button inputs, which can be like 11 steps long at times. The way you can completely dissect your bike and take off each part is genuinly amazing. The fact that you can tinker with your bike, beyond the usual tuning you can also do in other motorbike games, really gives you the feeling that you’re on a journey with your own bike. Damage even remains visible beyond each race, somethign I found rather impressive to be honest, as this isn’t something you normally see in racing games. Practically each individual part of your bike can be replaced and will suffer wear and tear as you go from race to race. The developers tried to also incorporate everything that revolves around the racing experience into the package, and this includes engineering and mechanics, even to the point that you have to maintain your bike. The reason I say brand new approach, is because RiMS Racing goes deeper than offering merely an authentic driving experience. But now, a new challenger enters the playing field which a brand new approach to the motorbike simulation genre: RiMS Racing, the first title by the newly formed Italian studio RaceWard Studio. with franchises like Ride, MotoGP, MXGP and Monster Energy Supercross. On top of that, the genre has been rather dominated by the Italian developer Milestone Srl. While there are plenty of racing games that allow you to race with cars, whether that be arcade or sim racing, the selection of games for motorbike enthusiasts is much more limited.
